After his appointment as the manager of Rangers, Steven Gerrard has played an active role in beefing up his arsenal. Having already signed some quality players like Connor Goldson, Scott Arfield and Jamie Murphy, Gerrard is aiming to lure Armin Hodzic and Elvir Koljic to the Ibrox Stadium, as per one of the latest reports by Daily Record.
Hodzic emerged through the youth ranks of Zeljeznicar and Liverpool. However, he couldn’t pave his way into the senior side of the latter and after a loan spell with Zeljeznicar, he switched to Dinamo Zagreb. The 23-year-old operates as a striker and has scored 48 goals in 108 appearances for the Croatian champions.
Besides, Bosnian club FK Krupa have claimed that the Gers have made a bid for their striker Koljic. Like Hodzic, Koljic is also a Bosnian international and had spent the second half of the previous campaign on loan with Lech Poznan. However, a serious knee injury kept him out of action for over two months.
With Umar Sadiq and Alfredo Morelos as the only recognized striker which the Light Blues have on their books, Gerrard’s inclination to sign another striker makes complete sense. Hodzic and Koljic are well familiar to each other and are subject of interest from some other clubs as well.
