After a lot of speculations about his future, Loris Karius has finally completed his move to Besiktas from the ranks of Liverpool. The Turkish outfit, who have won two of their three Turkish Lig fixtures so far, have signed him on a two-year loan deal.
In all fairness, the move should prove to be beneficial for Karius who never really settled at Liverpool after his move from German side Mainz 05 in the summer of 2016. He lacked confidence between the sticks and the burden of expectations from Liverpool fans worsened the scenery for him.
However, the two costly errors which the 25-year-old committed against Real Madrid in the Champions League final in May were the final nails in the coffin for him. It was mainly due to his mistakes that the Reds lost 3-1 to the Spanish giants in the grandest stage of European club football.
Ever since then, the German couldn’t feature in a competitive game for Jurgen Klopp’s side. The fact that Liverpool signed Alisson Becker for a staggering transfer fee of £67m from Roma earlier this summer pushed him down in the pecking order and his exit from the Anfield does make a lot of sense.
