Done Deal: West Ham United Announce The Signing Of Spanish Striker

West Ham United have completed the £4m signing of Lucas Perez on a three-year contract. The Spaniard had a pretty subdued spell at Arsenal as he was never really given a chance to impress.

A loan spell away at former club Deportivo last season helped him gather a bit of confidence as he mustered eight goals in 35 appearances. The side struggled all season though and Perez’s efforts weren’t enough to help them retain their top-flight status.

After signing with West Ham, Perez revealed that the project was interesting and the chance to play first-team football is what he’s hoping for, “I’m very happy to be here at such a historic club.

“I’m very excited, as West Ham are giving me the chance to stay in the Premier League and I’m very happy to be part of this new project.

“West Ham have great fans and play in an amazing stadium, so to sign here brings me great joy. I’m very motivated.”

Perez will provide West Ham with more depth this season. Although the Hammers have signed quite a few talented attackers and wide players, Javier Hernandez was the only experienced forward they had before confirming the deal for Perez as Andy Carroll has been ruled out with a long-term injury once again.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side play their first game this Sunday at Anfield against a Liverpool side who are amongst the favourites for the title this season. If they can start well, Pellegrini and co. could potentially challenge for the Europa League places considering the talented squad they have this time around.
