Boost To Man United And Liverpool- Blow For Man City 1

Manchester City’s talismanic midfielder Kevin De Bruyne hurt himself while training with his side earlier today and has suffered a knee injury which might keep him out until October. Although further scans are scheduled in the coming days, it seems to be a serious one at the onset.

Although there is suspicion that his injury is similar to the issues relating to his knee that kept him sidelined for nine weeks during his debut season with the Cityzens, a serious cruciate knee ligament injury has apparently been ruled out. Pep Guardiola’s side have confirmed about the injury to the Belgium international.

On their official website, Manchester City have stated that De Bruyne is “undergoing tests on his right knee after sustaining an injury at training on Wednesday. The extent of the problem is not yet known and we will bring you further updates on Kevin’s condition in due course.”

The 27-year-old started on the bench in his side’s convincing 2-0 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. However, he was expected to start against Huddersfield Town this weekend. Sources close to De Bruyne are hopeful that he could return earlier than expected eight or nine weeks.
