Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News: Lilywhites To Make Move For Liverpool Attacker

According to latest reports, Tottenham Hotspur are on course to re-ignite their interest in the services of Danny Ings as they look to sign a backup striker for Harry Kane next season. The Liverpool striker has been long subjected to a move out of Anfield, after lack of game-time.

Following the big money signings of Virgil Van Dijk, Naby Keita and Fabinho, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to offload a few of the fringe players in the squad, with Danny Ings unsurprisingly topping the list.

The former Burnley striker has failed to make an impact after making an audacious move to Liverpool in the summer of 2015. Since his arrival at Merseyside, Ings has featured in only 25 first team appearances for the Reds, eight of which came from last season, where Ings totalled 265 minutes of Premier League football.

Therefore, the former Burnley star is destined for a move out of Anfield, which has alerted Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are planning a shock move for the 25-year-old, which has raised quite a lot of eyebrows in English football this summer.

Although Spurs’ interest in Danny Ings might seem rather bizarre, the North-London giants have failed to secure the services of a top quality forward this summer, with most of them refraining to a move to London just to play as a back-up for the mercurial Harry Kane. However, Mauricio Pochettino is still adamant on signing a new and adequate backup for Harry Kane, with both Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente failing to fill the role over the past couple of years.

Thus, a move to Tottenham will be an ideal outcome not just for the club but for the club as well. Spurs will finally be able to secure the services of a proper back-up for Harry Kane, who also has a significant appearance in the Premier League, unlike Llorente and Janssen. While Danny Ings will be presented with the opportunity of redeeming himself, following three injury-ravaged seasons at Liverpool.

The former Burnley attacker still has a lot to provide, as far as his age is concerned. In addition, he has also shown a lot of promise during his time at Burnley and if he can manage to replicate his form, then he can transform into a real attacking asset for Tottenham in the coming years. Although that’s quite a long shot considering the fact that the English attacker has struggled with his fitness in the last few years but Mauricio Pochettino will be delighted to have secured his signing nonetheless.
