According to one of the latest report by Mirror, Swansea City are interested in Manchester City starlet Lukas Nmecha and are keen to prise him out of the Etihad on loan. The report further states that the Cityzens are also interested to ship him out on loan. However, Blackburn Rovers are also in the race to make Nmecha sign on the dotted line.

Nmecha emerged through the youth ranks of the blue half of Manchester and is one of the most valued assets in their youth ranks now. He was handed his first-team debut in December last year by his side’s manager Pep Guardiola in the EFL Cup against Leicester City and he found the back of the net during the penalty shoot-out, which was eventually won by his side.

The 19-year-old started in all three of Manchester City’s International Champions Cup fixtures, which were against Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. Besides, he had also represented England’s Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 sides on a regular basis. Guardiola is understandably reluctant to lose him permanently and a loan spell with a formidable Championship side like Swansea City should benefit all the parties involved.

Under the tutelage of Graham Potter, Swansea City have managed to bring just three new faces to the Liberty Stadium in Joel Asoro, Yan Dhanda and Jordi Govea. Owing to their relegation from the Premier League, some of the key players such as Lukasz Fabianski, Roque Mesa and Andre Ayew have already left the club. Thus, there is an apparent need to bring in reinforcements to mount a serious challenge for promotion.

Nmecha could be an exciting coup for the Swans owing to his dazzling attributes. Capable of plying his trade as a centre-forward and at times as a winger, he has the ability to hold the ball higher up the pitch and is clinical in front of goal.

Guardiola has a plethora of stars to cater to his offensive needs and Nmecha isn’t likely to get much game time under his belt if he stays. Therefore, a loan spell would not only allow Nmecha to keep his developmental process in the ascendancy but will also enable the former Bayern Munich boss to see how he fares in competitive games played on a regular basis. If he can step up after his move to Swansea City materializes, he could eventually prove to be a shrewd signing for the Wales-based outfit.
