Swansea City Keen On Signing Manchester City Attacker: Should Potter Go All In?

Swansea City Keen On Signing Manchester City Attacker: Should Potter Go All In? 1

After their demotion from the Premier League last season, Swansea City have already lost a number of their key players with Lukasz Fabianski, Kyle Bartley, Roque Mesa and Andre Ayew making exits.

The squad has been considerably depleted and apart from Joel Asoro, Jordi Govea and Yan Dhanda, no further incomings to the Liberty Stadium have happened so far this summer.

Several other high-profile players are set for an exit, including Alfie Mawson, Sam Clucas and Federico Fernandez. Swansea City, thus, are in a desperate need to strengthen their arsenal to make their presence felt in the Championship for the race of promotion this season.

The Wales-based outfit are believed to be closely monitoring Manchester City young gun Bersant Celina as per latest reports by Wales Online.

Bersant Celina – What will he add to Swansea City?

Celina emerged through the youth ranks of Norwegian outfit Stromsgodset and was offered a scholarship by Manchester City. The midfielder hasn’t been able to nail down a place for himself in the senior side of the blue half of Manchester. During the 2016-17 campaign, he was shipped out on loan to FC Twente and last season, he garnered a successful loan spell with Ipswich Town.

The 21-year-old accumulated 35 appearances in the Championship with the Tractor Boys and managed to find the back of the net on 7 occasions. Besides, he has also represented Kosovo’s national side and is one of the most exciting prodigies at Manchester City. However, he isn’t likely to get regular game time under his belt anytime soon owing to the plethora of stars Pep Guardiola has under his command.

The Cityzens have slapped a price tag of £3million on Celina’s collar and given that the Swans do have a strong financial muscle, spending on him shouldn’t be a problem for the club.

Celina is capable of plying his trade across the attacking line and his versatility is one of his strongest suits. He is comfortable in possession, has a calm head on his shoulder and knows when to pull the trigger in the final third.

However, he has been criticized for his lack of defensive contribution. But then, he is still in his learning years and should be able to better his credentials in the coming seasons. Having acclimatized himself with the English second division last term, the Kosovo international will be an excellent buy if Graham Potter can see this deal through.
