Manchester City are ready to go head to head with cross-town rivals Manchester United for the services of Adrien Rabiot this summer, as per recent reports from Paris United. The PSG starlet has been a subject of some serious interest from both of these Premier League and a big-money move could be on the horizon this summer.
Rabiot, 23, is currently regarded as one of the best Ligue 1 midfielders. A bargain signing from Toulouse in the summer of 2013, the Frenchman has been a huge hit at PSG. Especially after a steady start to his career at Parc des Princes, Rabiot has established himself as a key man in the PSG midfield in the past couple of seasons.
The 23-year-old has already made over 60 league appearances in the last two seasons and was a key part as PSG regained the French title at the hands of AS Monaco last season. In fact, he was one of the more prominent figures in the starting eleven as French giants toppled defending champions Monaco.
However, his future at the club is highly uncertain following the arrival of new coach Thomas Tuchel. Reports suggest that the Frenchman is not happy with his new role at the club given by the former Dortmund manager while he has also grown frustrated of PSG’s lack of compassion towards him after he was omitted from the French roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Thus, a move out of Paris is very likely with both Manchester United and Manchester City reportedly vying for his signature.
Manchester City, in particular, have shown a keen interest in the services of the 23-year-old as they attempt to solidify their midfield after an incredible campaign last season. The Sky Blues completely dominated the English top flight but could be forced to make some new signings with few of their prominent players reaching the final stage of their respective careers.
Fernandinho, in particular, is already 33 with fans and experts firmly believing that his performance will deteriorate next season. Another veteran midfielder Yaya Toure is destined to leave the club this summer, after growing frustrated with Pep Guardiola for his lack of chances. In fact, to prove his worth, the Ivorian midfielder is even willing to join arch-rivals Manchester United.
In addition, no guarantees can be made on the fitness of Ilkay Gundogan, who has been a prominent figure in the starting eleven for the past few months. But, considering his dark history regarding his fitness, it could be a wise decision for Manchester City to go all out for Adrien Rabiot, who is more than capable of making a difference in the Premier League.
