Arsenal To Launch An Audacious Bid For French Winger: Final Piece In The Jigsaw?

Ever since his appointment as the new manager of Arsenal earlier this summer, Unai Emery has done a terrific job in reconstructing the armoury he inherited from Arsene Wenger. The former Paris Saint-Germain boss has been very busy in the ongoing transfer window and has already lured five quality players to the Emirates Stadium.

He has primarily focussed on beefing up his defensive ranks as the back line and the central defensive midfield had been major weaknesses during the later stages of Wenger’s reign. Although the attacking sector of the Gunners boasts of having some of the best players in the game, Emery might be inclined to bolster the same further before the transfer window shuts down.

As per one of the latest reports by The Sun, Arsenal are ready to offer £44million to prise Kingsley Coman out of the Allianz Arena. Coman is unarguably one of the hottest properties in German Bundesliga at the moment and he would certainly be a staggering signing for Arsenal. The 22-year-old missed France’s victorious campaign in the World Cup due to injury but is said to be making a recovery.

Capable of plying his trade on both the flanks, Coman offers blistering pace and is a tough commodity to deal with when he is on song. He is an excellent dribbler and an astute passer of the ball and has the knack to find the back of the net as well as to create chances for his teammates on a regular basis. Besides, he holds the ball well in the final third.

The former Juventus and PSG winger, who signed a new deal with the German Bundesliga Champions back in December, was injured for almost three months last season owing to his ankle ligament damage.

Emery had recently stated that the business for the summer has been done but he had kept the door open for a ‘big opportunity’. Although Coman could be the one, it is unclear whether Bayern Munich are willing to strike him off their books or not. It is worth noting that £44million would be the double of what they paid to secure the Frenchman’s signature and it would be intriguing to see what lies ahead for him.

But Emery has to be wary of the fact that a complete overhaul of the squad leaves the door open for a scenario wherein the team fails to gel whatsoever on the pitch thus causing irreparable damage to Plan A. While he will certainly need the team to have his signature on it, he will also have to make sure the current lot get their mojo back.
