Tottenham Hotspur eyeing a move for Brazilian attacker: The right choice by Pochettino?

tottenham hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino has taken great steps in developing Tottenham Hotspur as an established top four side for two seasons running. The Argentine is however determined to win silverware with the Lilywhites.

Tottenham are keen to bolster their squad depth as they hope to contend on all four fronts next term. Barcelona’s midfielder Rafinha, currently on loan at Inter Milan, is reportedly on Tottenham’s radar. Inter Milan although have an option to make his deal permanent, are reluctant to shell out £30.8million

Much-Needed Squad Depth

The Brazilian midfielder could go a long way in assuring the much-needed squad depth Pochettino wants. With the likes of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura taking up the more attacking positions, the addition of the Barcelona star could come in handy and provide Pochettino with another arrow in his quiver.

The Argentine would need all his players fit and healthy to ensure that they are able to field a strong line-up in every competition.

The added accumulation on the fixture list with the participation in the Champions League adds heavy load on players to play twice a week. Rafinha’s addition could just ensure that they bring in quality whilst also providing great squad depth.

His numbers for Inter Milan

The Brazilian moved to the Italian outfit back in the January transfer window on loan. In his tenure, he has managed to make 17 appearances in the Seria A, he has racked up 2 goals to go with his 3 assists that helped the La Beneamata regain their place in Europe’s elite after 6 years.

He was instrumental in helping Inter beat Lazio on the final day that ultimately resulted in Inter finishing 4th thereby assuring Champions League football next campaign.

Are Tottenham financially sound?

Tottenham’s recent improvements and their move to the brand new White Hart Lane has not come cheap by any means. An all-new stadium requires a heavy investment that could pull the North Londoners back in their transfer plans and their ambition for big money signings. However, given how the market has been inflated recently, £30.8million could be a bargain and a fee that could be affordable.

Despite not being the most attractive destinations, Pochettino’s arrival has made a huge difference. Tottenham can now recruit big guns easier than previous occasions to match the big boys both in England and Europe. Whether or not theLilywhites make determined approach for the Brazilian remains to be seen.
