Tottenham Hotspur have one of the strongest squads in England but they were not able to win anything to show for the progress under Mauricio Pochettino. The break before the start of the season will give them time to improve on but will also keep the fans busy, as a number of their first team stars, will be busy in Russia with the national sides.
The FIFA World Cup will be an event which will have a lot of eyes on it and Spurs’ fans have a number of players to watch out for in the competition. Here are three such players who are expected to put in some blazing performances in the 2018 World Cup in Russia:
#3 Harry Kane (England)
Captaining the English national team at the World Cup, the Spurs striker stands as one of the best in his role in Europe. He is fresh off of a 30 goals season and has been vocal in rallying his teammates towards what could be an exciting tournament in Russia.
He made his international debut just three years ago but was one of the best players in the side that took them to the finals. He will have to act as a leader, which might push him even further. So it is not too wrong to say that a lot of England’s chances in the competition rely on his performances.
#2 Christian Eriksen (Denmark)
Having lifted the Danish international side to the World Cup finals in Russia, with a hat-trick in the second leg of the qualification round, the 26-year old is one of the most experienced players heading to the World Cup from the lot under Pochettino.
He has 21 goals in 77 appearances and is the talisman of his side. He scored a goal in each of the group stage games and the Denmark side will hope that he can continue his performances and take the side as far as he can in the competition.
#1 Heung Min-Son (South Korea)
The most productive Asian to play in the Premier League, Son is now the most important player for South Korea, with star player Kwon Chang-hoon ruled out of the competition with an injury.
They are drawn in a tough group alongside Germany, Sweden and Mexico and it is crucial that the Spurs man is at his best for the entire campaign.
He needs to replicate his form from the recent domestic campaign for his national side if they are to stand any chance of qualifying for the knockout stages.
