Claude Puel will not be too happy with the lack of consistency his side have shown in the recently concluded league season and will be desperate to add some quality to his side this summer. This has seen Leicester City linked with some of the finest stars in Europe and one name exciting many fans is Ricardo Pereira.
Leicester Agree Pereira Deal
A transfer target that got away from Tottenham Hotspur last summer, Pereira has been extensively linked with a move to England this summer as well and reports now claim that Leicester City have won the race for his signature.
The right-back has joined the club for a fee of 22 million pounds. So what will Pereira bring to the Premier League?
Who Is Pereira?
Born and brought up in Lisbon, Pereira made a serious name for himself on his two-year loan stint with French giants Nice, where he established himself as a serious contender for the national side. He moved back to Porto this season and managed two goals and an assist in 26 league starts, standing as one of the most effective right-backs in the domestic league in Portugal.
A right-back by trait, the 24-year old, who is also on the plane to Russia for the World Cup, is a versatile footballer and can play as a natural winger as well. He is known for his strength in hold up play, confidence with the ball at his feet and his ability to find passes and crosses, creating chances for his side constantly.
He loves to carry the ball in the final third but is equally adept at shutting shop and frustrating opponents at the other end. His twists and turns allow him to come out of danger even inside his box, with ease and at just 24, he is destined to be a superstar in the future.
What Will He Bring To King Power?
Pereira has Claude Puel to thank for his run into the national team as it was Puel who took him to Nice and helped establish himself in the first team. The current Leicester City manager used Pereira regularly in his time in France and he will take no time to adjust to the requirement at King Power next season.
But more importantly, with Danny Simpson as the only first-choice right-back at the club, Pereira might even walk into the first team and can have an immediate impact, having already worked under Puel’s system. At just around £20m, the Portuguese international is an absolute steal and could turn into a match winner in years to come.
