Rangers managed to earn merely a point against Motherwell as they drew 2-2 on Saturday and the fact that Aberdeen clinched a 0-2 win over the same opposition on Tuesday at the Fir Park means that the Gers are now 3 points behind the Dons in the Scottish Premiership table.
Graeme Murty’s men are due to face Dundee at the Ibrox Stadium on Saturday and there is no denying that Rangers will be going into the fixture with the need to bag all three points.
Rangers Team News
Ross McCrorie has returned from his foot injury and he is likely to get his first start of 2018 in the upcoming fixture. However, Lee Wallace remains sidelined owing to his long-term groin injury. Meanwhile, Josh Windass is expected to be unavailable after hobbling off against Motherwell in the weekend.
Here is how we expect Murty to roll out his starting XI against Neil McCann’s entourage.
Goalkeeper
Wes Foderingham has been the undisputed first-choice shot-stopper for the Glasgow giants and has started in every league game for his club this season. He is set to be given the nod to start under the bar once again this weekend.
Defence
Russell Martin struggled to impose his dominance against the Steelmen and he is expected to be replaced by McCrorie at the heart of the back line of Rangers. Bruno Alves possesses truckloads of experience under his belt and he will be crucial in the business end of the season. The Portuguese should partner McCrorie in the central defence.
James Tavernier has been pretty consistent down the right this season and he deserves to get the green light from Murty to start as the right-back. The left-back slot is likely to be occupied by Declan John.
Midfield
Greg Docherty and Graham Dorrans are expected to be partnered in central midfield once again. The duo has been consistent and has shown a good understanding between themselves.
Meanwhile, Daniel Candeias is expected to be chalked on the right-wing and he will look to make a difference over the course of the 90 minutes. The Light Blues need him to step up and offer his attacking prowess in the final third once again. From the left-wing, Jamie Murphy deserves to start after having found the back of the net last weekend.
Attack
Alfredo Morelos is good at holding the ball and bringing his teammates into the equation up front and it would make a lot of sense if he is partnered with Jason Cummings.
