After a comprehensive 3-0 win over Reading at the Villa Park earlier this week, Aston Villa are due to make a trip to the Carrow Road on Saturday to face Norwich City.

Aston Villa Team News

Glenn Whelan is back in training once again, although he might not be rushed into the starting line-up. However, Alan Hutton is out of contention to feature against the Canaries. Apart from these, every key player for the club is available for selection.

Here is how we expect Steve Bruce to roll out his starting line-up against Daniel Farke’s troops.

Goalkeeper

Sam Johnstone has been the indispensable first-choice custodian in the Championship for the Villans this season and there is no denying that he has been pretty solid under the bar. The 25-year-old has garnered 17 clean sheets from 40 league games, making 2.43 saves per game on an average, and seems likely to start once again.

Defence

John Terry and James Chester are expected to pair up once again at the heart of the back line of Aston Villa. Chester has churned a splendid camaraderie with Terry and the manner in which these two manage to fare alongside each other until the end of the season will be crucial for their side’s promotion bid.

In the right-back slot, Ahmed Elmohamady is expected to feature once again as he has been really good at galloping forward and has been quite resilient defensively as well. Meanwhile, Neil Taylor should continue at left-back in the absence of Hutton.

Midfield

Although known for his defensive contributions, Birkir Bjarnason scored a superb goal against Reading. He is expected to operate from the central defensive midfield role to cushion the back line and to dictate the tempo of the game from the middle of the park.

Robert Snodgrass has smashed 7 goals and has also collected 14 assists to his name from 35 appearances this season in the Championship and his attacking prowess from the right flank has been intriguing to watch. The Scottish international is set to start once again.

Meanwhile, Jack Grealish and Conor Hourihane are expected to be placed in the middle of the park and they need to create genuine goalscoring chances for their teammates by working together efficiently. Albert Adomah is anticipated to start from the left flank.

Attack

Scott Hogan is likely to start as the lone striker up top. The 25-year-old has scored 6 league goals this season and must be keen to add to his tally.
