Transfer Story:
Transfer rumours and Manchester United walk on the same lines; though those gossips, at times, might carry no value whatsoever. United are currently on a high following the victory against Manchester City, however, that win carried many messages too. Jose Mourinho has shown in the recent games, albeit the hiccup against Sevilla that his side is capable of playing attacking football hence doing justice to the plethora of talent at his disposal.
But having failed to mount a title challenge, Jose might feel the need to revisit his options and make a move in the transfer market. And right on cue, Brazilian starlet Richarlison has been linked with a move away from Watford to Manchester United.
Richarlison has had a breakthrough season of sorts this year, after an incredible start to the campaign. However, his dip in form coincided with a poor run of results for the club and hence he has found himself out of the spotlight for quite some time now. With the transfer window soon approaching though, his name has resurfaced and has been the subject of many reports linking him to a move away in the summer.
Richarlison: Raw yet talented
Capable of bursting into the box from wide areas due to his quick feet and skills, Richarlison has shown glimpses of his talent on a regular basis. He has a good control over the ball and likes to get out of cramped spaces with his tricks and flicks on the ball. Richarlison links up effectively with others in the final third and hence that helps the team to patiently build up attacks. He can stretch the opposition’s defence and can put in some testing crosses into the box. He has a certain Brazilian flair and creativity in his game which has made people sit up and take notice.
In 33 Premier League appearances this season, he has scored five goals and assisted five times. He had a brilliant start to the season, but eventually, he has failed to showcase consistency in his game. Teams have devised a proper plan to shut him down the left wing by putting more bodies in front of him that leads to Richarlison being dispossessed regularly. He has failed to score a single Premier League goal this year and has hence attracted a lot of criticism due to that. However, with some good coaching and confidence, he could well be back to his roaring best.
Should Manchester United make a move?
Alexis Sanchez, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford; three players, one position.
The left wing is overloaded at Old Trafford currently and Jose Mourinho already has a dilemma in choosing whom to start amongst the above three players. Acquisition of Richarlison looks extremely unlikely and apparently unnecessary too.
