Liverpool are on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League next season, while having entered the semis of the competition this season, thanks to Jurgen Klopp but the German tactician is not completely convinced of his squad and is looking to add some quality to his first team, before the start of the next season.

This has seen the Reds linked with some exciting stars recently and the latest name doing the rounds is that of Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa’s Future Now Uncertain:

A transfer target for both Chelsea and Liverpool even before the start of the season, the 20-year old has been in decent form this season for Italian outfit Fiorentina and is yet again attracting interest from around Europe.

And speaking to the media recently, Fiorentina boss Stefano Pioli revealed that he is not sure about the youngster’s future at the club. His contract does not run out until 2022, which will see him be an expensive buy for any team this summer so should Liverpool go all in for him?

Who Is Chiesa?

Now a household name in Italy, the Fiorentina youth product, who was promoted to the first team in 2016 now stands as one of the most exciting players at Stadio Artemio Franchi. He has six goals and three assists in 28 Serie A starts this season and has managed to break into the Italian national side, making a couple of senior appearances already.

A versatile winger, who can play on either flank, through the middle or in a deeper role, the 20-year old is known for his pace and acceleration. He has a calm head on his shoulders and is usually productive with his decision making. He sticks to the basics, does not try anything fancy but manages to be effective in more ways than one.

He is an excellent passer, even under pressure and loves to cut in from the wing, but is more than capable of taking his man on and delivering inch-perfect crosses. But he is at his best in build-up play, where his positional awareness makes him a dangerous player to mark.

He is smart and invites fouls, plays selflessly and is usually full of energy and will be a huge coup for even the biggest teams in Europe.

The Right Fit For Klopp?

The Reds have Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah as their first choice wingers at the moment and though they have youngsters like Harry Wilson and Sheyi Ojo, both of who are impressing out on loan, ready to make a first-team impact, Klopp needs players who are ready for first-team action and Chiesa fits the bill.

At just 20, he already has 65 appearances for Fiorentina in all competitions and is showing maturity beyond his age. He may not be the perfect fit for the system at Anfield yet but he will have a brilliant opportunity learning just that under Klopp.
