Rangers Player Ratings From Their Defeat To Celtic: Candeias With A 7/10 1

Celtic stamped their domestic superiority once again as they clinched a spectacular 2-3 win against their arch-rivals Rangers at the Ibrox Stadium earlier today. Graeme Murty’s side got the lead through Josh Windass’ early goal, but Tom Rogic nullified their lead a few minutes later.

Three more goals were scored in the first-half, with Daniel Candeias and Moussa Dembele scoring for their respective sides. The tables seemed to turn in favour of Rangers when Jozo Simunovic was handed the red card but Odsonne Edouard’s strike after coming on for James Forrest proved to the winning goal for the Hoops.

Here are our Rangers player ratings from their defeat at the hands of Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Wes Foderingham 5/10

The shot-stopper could have done better to prevent Dembele from scoring but apart from that, he made some good saves and can hardly be blamed for the two other goals.

James Tavernier 6/10

Tavernier was pretty solid defensively and showed immense work-rate and determination to burst forward and link-up with Candeias, but more often than not, the resolute back line of the Hoops stood firm.

David Bates 4/10

He was starting to form a decent partnership with Bruno Alves at the heart of the defence but was injured early in the first-half and was substituted.

Bruno Alves 6/10

The Portuguese imposed his towering figure and was dominant when Celtic took set-pieces. However, he could have dealt better with Dembele in the final minutes of the first-half.

Declan John 6/10

John kept James Forrest in check and apart from catering to his defensive duties, he galloped forward time and again.

Sean Goss 4/10

The central midfielder looked susceptible on many occasions. He lacked any sort of authority on the pitch. Besides, he was wasteful when he had the ball.

Greg Docherty 5/10

There is no denying that Docherty shielded the back line well but he failed to move the ball forward and lacked the creativity.

Daniel Candeias 7/10

It was another decent day for Candeias who showcased his attacking prowess, brought urgency into the attack and stretched Celtic’s defence. He deserved the goal that he scored.

Josh Windass 3/10

After scoring an early goal, Windass went missing, particularly in the final third.

Jamie Murphy 6/10

Murphy’s pace and vision came really handy for Murty’s side and the left-winger did contribute defensively as well. However, the end product was missing from him up front.

Alfredo Morelos 5/10

The striker worked hard and caused a lot of problems for Dedryck Boyata. However, he missed a sitter.

Substitutions

Fabio Cardoso 3/10

Cardoso came on for Bates and was troubled by the pace and movement of Dembele.

Jason Cummings 4/10

He was given a game after Goss was subbed off with just over 15 minutes left to play, and he did his basics right.
