Morelos To Lead The Line: Predicted 4-2-3-1 Rangers Lineup vs Celtic 2

Rangers are due to face their arch-rivals, Celtic, in the next Scottish Premiership fixture on Sunday at the Ibrox Stadium. The Old Firm Derby holds paramount important for both the clubs involved regardless of where they are on the table.

The Gers will be aiming to reduce the gap between them and the Hoops in the race for the league silverware. We expect nothing short of high intensity football from the two heavyweights of Scottish football.

Rangers – Team News

Jamie Murphy, who missed out of the weekend game with a toe injury, is set to make his return this weekend. However, Graham Dorrans, Ross McCrorie and Ryan Jack are all out. Declan John and Lee Wallace are also back in the reckoning.

Goalkeeper

Jak Alnwick was used in the cup fixture against Falkirk but in the league fixture that awaits, we expect Wes Foderingham to start between the sticks for the Gers once again. Foderingham is Rangers’ first choice shot-stopper and has been pretty good so far this season.

Defence

James Tavernier has been one of the most consistent performers for Rangers this season and there is no denying that he would be one of the first names on Murty’s team sheet. With Tavernier likely to start on the right, Declan John could be a sensible option on the other side owing to the industry and flamboyance that he offers.

Russell Martin and David Bates should start at the heart of the defence. While Bates has featured regularly in Murty’s regime, Martin is showcasing his resilience.

Midfield

Two of the January transfer window signings in the form of Sean Goss and Greg Docherty have seamlessly adjusted to the tactical nous of Murty. Goss and Docherty are expected to start from the middle of the park as they’ll try to shield the back four and start moves from their own half.

Josh Windass is likely to be given the opportunity to operate as the no.10 against the Hoops.

Attack

Striker Alfredo Morelos has smashed in 13 goals in 27 appearances in the Scottish top flight and he will be keen to up his tally by making his presence felt against Celtic. With the Columbian expected to start up top, Daniel Candeias is likely to start on the right-wing. On the left-wing, we expect to see the offensive prowess of Jamie Murphy.
