Manchester United still have a shot at silverware in the FA Cup this season but Jose Mourinho will not be too pleased with the current campaign at Old Trafford and is already desperate to add some quality to the first team in the summer. There are a number of star players, extensively linked with a move to Manchester United and one name exciting the fans is that of Anderson Talisca.
United Reserve Talisca:
A transfer target for Chelsea and Manchester United for over a couple of years now, Talisca has been on Mourinho’s radar for a while and reports claim that he is finally ready to make a substantial move for the Brazilian star, before the start of the new season.
Reports in Portugal claim that United have opened talks with Talisca over a move this summer, in a deal that could cost the Red Devils around £35m. Also wanted by the likes of Wolves, Talisca has been in decent form in Turkey this season but is he the right man for United?
Who Is Talisca?
Recently called up for the first time to represent the Brazilian senior side, Talisca is a product of Vasco da Gama but only made a name for himself after he joined Portuguese giants Benfica in 2014. He spent two decent years in the first team at the club but was loaned out to Turkish outfit Besiktas, where he has been playing his football, since the start of the previous season.
He took no time to establish himself in the first team and has been in decent form this season, picking up 10 goals and three assists in just 23 Super Lig starts. An attacking midfielder, who can also put in a shift in a central role, the 24-year old is known for his strength in hold up play and ability to test the keeper from long range.
He is usually deadly when given any space or time on the ball in the final third and his set-piece delivery only makes him that much more effective. He can ping passes over 40 yards or play short passes around tight defences to make space for him and his side and his intelligence is what earned him a national team call-up this year.
At just 24, he has made a name for himself as a physically dominating and creative midfielder and has done no harm to his reputation recently.
Right Man For United?
The Red Devils do not have too many natural no.10s in their side at the moment. Jesse Lingard has been used there regularly while the likes of Juan Mata and Alexis Sanchez have also been given a chance. But Talisca adds a different dimension to this United attack and will be a real coup for the Red Devils.
He is not a first-team option yet and might be benched initially but the Brazilian star has enough potential and is highly regarded by Jose Mourinho, who might be able to get the best out of him.
