Leicester City Lead The Race To Sign Egyptian Sensation: Is He Worth The Fuss?

As per latest reports by TEAMtalk, Leicester City are interested in signing Egyptian winger, Ahmed Sayed, in the summer. The report states that Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also in the race for the attacker but the Foxes are apparently leading the race to acquire his services.

Fact File

Sayed, also known as Zizo, emerged through the youth ranks of JMG Academy, Wadi Degla and Lierse. He showcased glimpses of his ability which persuaded Lierse to promote him to their senior side. After making a mark in Belgian football, Zizo joined Primeira Liga outfit, Nacional on loan in January 2017 before moving to Moreirense last summer.

Season So Far

The Egyptian has made 14 starts and 8 substitute appearances so far this season in the Portuguese top flight and has managed to score 1 goal. He has mustered a pass completion rate of 80.6% and has made 0.8 key passes per game on an average.

Attributes

Versatility is his strongest suit as Zizo is capable of plying his trade on either wing as well as from the midfield. He holds the ball well and his raw pace enables him to stretch defences. The winger has put in some top-drawer performances this season and no wonder some top Premier League clubs are monitoring him very closely.

Although the potential is there, there is no denying that he is far from being a finished product. He is not very sound in the air and has been criticised a lot of times for his lack of defensive contributions. However, he is expected to get better in the coming seasons.

Should Puel Sign Him In The Summer?

Claude Puel’s side are aiming for a respectable finish in the top-half of the Premier League table but are likely to lose their dazzling attacker, Riyad Mahrez, in the summer. While Zizo is apparently the replacement for the Algerian, it wouldn’t make a lot of sense as he lacks the experience in the league which is more competitive than the Primeira Liga.

The Premier League is pretty tough and signing the 23-year-old could raise a lot of eyebrows. He has the potential to be a player in Puel’s squad but it would be too early for him to fill Mahrez’s shoes.
