After a 1-1 draw with Barnsley at the KCOM Stadium last week, Hull City are due to host Millwall in their own backyard on Tuesday. Nigel Adkins’ side are placed at the 20th spot in the Championship standings with 33 points to their name from 34 games.
It goes without saying that the axe of relegation is still hovering over the Tigers and thus, they do need to put forth a commendable performance against Neil Harris’ side.
Team News
Ondrej Mazuch and Harry Wilson have both returned to full training, while Abel Hernandez is also likely to be in contention for bagging some game time after almost seven months out.
Markus Henriksen is also back in contention, whereas Stephen Kingsley is expected to be treated with caution. Besides, checks will be made on Jon Toral and Evandro after both of them sustained minor problems last week.
Here is how we expect Hull City to start against Millwall.
Goalkeeper
Allan McGregor has notched up 8 clean sheets from 34 appearances in the league so far this season and has made 2.47 saves per game on an average. The 36-year-old custodian is expected to be given the nod to start once again between the sticks by Adkins.
Defence
It was Michael Dawson’s goal in the second half that enabled Hull City to salvage a point against the Lions and the experienced defender is set to start at the heart of his side’s defence. Alongside him, we expect Angus MacDonald to make yet another start as the two have worked pretty well together this season.
Max Clark is likely to retain his place in the starting line-up as the left-back. Temitayo Aina is anticipated to start from the right-back slot. Aina and Jarrod Bowen have aided each other on many of Hull City’s attacking endeavours and Adkins would be hoping for something similar in the midweek fixture.
Midfield
Sebastian Larsson is likely to be chalked in the middle of the park yet again. To accompany him, we expect Jackson Irvine to start and these two do bring calmness in the middle of the park for Hull City. They not only have the tendency to gallop forward to carve openings but are good at cushioning the backline as well. Jon Toral is likely to start as the no.10.
Attack
Bowen has been absolutely magnificent for Hull City this season, having smashed 12 goals in 32 appearances in the English second tier and he is expected to operate from the right-wing. While Nouha Dicko is likely to lead the line, we expect Harry Wilson to aid Dicko from the left-wing.
