After a disastrous start to their campaign, Everton have been saved from their blushes by Sam Allardyce, under whom the side are expected to finish in the top half of the table come the end of the campaign. But they are already in search of managers who can establish the club as a European superpower in the future and the latest name doing the rounds is Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
Wenger On The List To Replace Allardyce
With six defeats in their last six away games, Everton are certainly in a crisis. Having given Ronald Koeman the sack, the Toffees need to be cautious in their search for a new manager and reports claim that the Everton owner is convinced Wenger is the right man.
According to an exclusive from Starsport, Farhad Moshiri, the Iranian owner at Goodison Park, who worked with Arsenal previously, is desperate to get Wenger to Everton, if he is shown the exit door at Emirates. Is he the right man for Everton?
Wenger And His Legacy
Having won 19 major honours in his two-decade tenure at Emirates, Wenger has managed to qualify for the Champions League in every season except the last one and is regarded as one of the most respected managers in Europe at the moment.
At 68, he is one of the most experienced tacticians around in the game and has given Arsenal some of the best days in the history of the club. He took over when the club was in serious trouble on and off the pitch and helped establish them as an exciting team in Europe. He is the only manager in the history of the Premier League to have gone a season without a defeat and is easily one of the best options for Everton.
His Arsenal side is underperforming at the moment and the fans have completely turned against him, but given his calibre and ability to work with what he has, Everton should try and lure him.
Right Man For Everton?
The Toffees are looking at some exciting names to take over the club this summer and are better off looking for a manager who can not only provide immediate results but can also start a legacy at the club.
Wenger’s methods take time to have an effect and at his age, he might not be able to start a legacy at Everton but his experience in the Premier League might help the Toffees re-establish themselves in Europe and stop the slump in the near future.
Wenger’s appointment will give Everton the time to search for the right man but do you think Wenger’s time is up and Everton should look elsewhere?
