Eddie Howe continues to impress in the Premier League given the minimal resources he’s had to work with. Despite that, the English manager has done considerably well in helping his team sit 10th in the league, but the job far from over.
The Cherries are looking to strengthen their squad as they are eyeing a move for Celtic’s Scott Sinclair, reports suggest. The winger has scored 17 goals for the Scottish outfit, has attracted interest from Brighton as well who are keen to add to their ranks.
Bournemouth will be hoping they can fend off interest from other parties and lure the Englishman to the Premier League.
Forgotten Star?
The 29-year-old rose to fame during his time at Swansea where his 8-goal season helped the Welsh finish 11th in the Premier League. He was Swansea’s second highest goal-scorer in the 2011-12 campaign and that attracted interest from various clubs.
He eventually ended up moving to Manchester City. However, he failed to deal with the competition for places and was a bit-part player.
Possible resurrection in the Premier League?
Despite having two bad stints with Manchester City followed by Aston Villa, Sinclair’s performances for Celtic have been quite exceptional.
In his very first season in the Premiership, Sinclair racked up 21 goals and 8 assists, a brilliant return for a player who scored just twice in the Premier League campaign the season before. That form has then continued through the following season.
This could be the right time for Sinclair to resurrect his career in Premier League. Bournemouth could be the perfect platform for that given that their style of play is quite similar to that of Celtic’s.
Good fit for Howe?
Howe is certainly not a manager who will ditch his principle of attacking football. Despite results not springing his way at times, he has never given up on his attacking mindset. With that in mind, Sinclair could be a great addition to this Bournemouth side.
His attacking prowess could match Howe’s philosophy. The side play counter-attacking football and presence of agile wingers play a key role in stretching defences. While Jordon Ibe and Junior Stanislas have done well, they need players who will be more consistent.
Sinclair is at the peak of his prowess and his athletic career and perhaps now is the right time for him to return to the Premier League and finish some unfinished business.
