On Wednesday, Celtic will be looking forward to strengthening their grip at the top of the Scottish Premiership table as they are due to host Dundee at the Celtic Park. The Celts have collected 64 points from 28 league fixtures and have a lead of 9 points over second-placed Rangers.
Brendan Rodgers’ men clinched a 2-0 win against Aberdeen at the Pittodrie Stadium on Sunday and it goes without saying that they would be aiming to achieve all three points against The Dee.
Team News
Celtic would be bereft of the services of Dedryck Boyata, Patrick Roberts, Leigh Griffiths, Stuart Armstrong, Craig Gordon, Jonny Hayes, Marvin Compper and Nir Bitton. Besides, Mikael Lustig would also be unavailable due to suspension after he was sent off against Aberdeen.
Goalkeeper
As Gordon is still out, Dorus de Vries is expected to be stationed between the sticks once again. He managed to bag a clean sheet against Aberdeen and should be looking forward to engineering the same outcome against Dundee.
Defence
Anthony Ralston is anticipated to be given the nod to start from the right-back position as Lustig would be unavailable. Kristoffer Ajer has been quite decent at the back for the Bhoys and he is likely to be placed at the heart of Celtic’s defence alongside Jack Hendry.
Kieran Tierney found the back of the net against the Dons and he would be one of the first names to find a place in Rodgers’ starting XI. Tierney is unarguably one of the hottest properties that Scottish football has on offer and he is set to operate as the left-back.
Midfield
Scott Brown and Olivier Ntcham have formed an excellent partnership in the middle of the park of late. These two have not only cushioned the backline meticulously but have also been able to dictate the tempo of the game. The manner in which they knit the side in the upcoming fixture will once again hold immense importance in the outcome.
Although Tom Rogic played in the last league game, we expect the former Liverpool boss to give him another start in the no.10 role. He has scored 5 goals in 26 appearances in the Scottish top flight and could be a handy commodity in the final third.
Attack
Up front, Moussa Dembele is expected to make a start and lead Celtic’s line-up. The Frenchman is slowly but surely getting back to what he does best and could be the decisive factor in the fixture.
In the left-wing, Charly Musonda deserves to start ahead of Scott Sinclair whereas, on the right, James Forrest is expected to be chalked to showcase his attacking calibre.
