As per one of the latest reports by the Mirror, Everton are ready to strike £30million centre-back, Michael Keane, off the books in the summer. The report states that Sam Allardyce will be ready to listen to offers for the centre-back but the Toffees might have to take a financial hit.
Keane has had a difficult time ever since moving to Everton but considering his potential, there would be no dearth of suitors in the summer. Here are three such clubs who might be interested to unite with the former Burnley defender.
- Arsenal
Despite bringing in attacking reinforcements, Arsenal are still far from being a perfectly balanced side. Their defence does need some quality additions in the summer and there is no denying that. Per Mertesacker is well beyond his prime and Shkodran Mustafi has been inconsistent and timorous more often than not.
Arsene Wenger, by signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last month from Borussia Dortmund for a whopping transfer fee of £56million, has shown that he isn’t afraid to spend big to strengthen his side. Given that a centre-back might be on Wenger’s wish-list in the summer, Keane could be a good addition for the Gunners owing to his calibre and experience of English football.
- Leicester City
Harry Maguire has been fantastic for Leicester City at the heart of their defence but as per one of the latest reports by Daily Star, Manchester United and Manchester City are believed to be interested to sign him. If Maguire’s exit from the King Power Stadium actually happens, Keane could be an astute replacement.
The 25-year-old is commendable in the air and is good at making tackles and interceptions at the right moments. He is a cool and composed player at the back and given that Wes Morgan and Robert Huth are in their 30s, Keane could also be a long-term solution for the Foxes.
- Burnley
Prior to his big-money move to the Goodison Park last summer, Keane was an outstanding defender for Burnley. He was not only a galvanizing asset for Sean Dyche’s outfit but the fans also adored him dearly. There is no denying that he blossomed while he was in the ranks of the Clarets.
Reports state that they are monitoring the Englishman’s situation at Everton but they might be reluctant to dish out a huge amount of transfer fee. However, if he moves back to the Turf Moor in the summer and reignites his old form, he could once again find his name amongst the best defenders of the Premier League.
