Swansea City are currently rock-bottom in the Premier League table and it would take a herculean effort by the Swans to remain in the top division next season. Carlos Carvalhal doesn’t have truckloads of money to spend either, which means he has to take a look at loaning in players who can help them beat the drop.
Here are three players he could target to meet his needs.
-
Calum Chambers
Arsenal’s centre-back, Calum Chambers, could be added by Swansea City in their ranks on loan for the rest of the season. Chambers has been sporadically used so far by Arsene Wenger, who has handed the Englishman merely 3 starts in the Premier League and the defender might be personally looking for an outlet from the Emirates Stadium to get more game time under his belt.
Chambers, after being signed from Southampton in 2014, was shipped off to Middlesbrough last season and it was a fairly productive campaign for him. However, he still has his flaws to address and given that the Swans are struggling at the back, the 22-year-old could be an option for them.
-
Hadi Sacko
One of the aspects that pop up every time Hadi Sacko’s name flashes is his relentless pace and acceleration. The Leeds United winger has been overlooked by Thomas Christiansen this season after his permanent move to the Elland Road in the summer from Sporting CP.
The 23-year-old might not be a sensational addition owing to his inability to make the most out of the opportunities he gets but he would certainly provide some attacking tooth with his pace and ability to stretch the defence of the opposition with his movements. What Sacko needs is confidence from the manager under whom he plays and if Carvalhal manages to do so, he might prove to be a decent commodity.
-
Diafra Sakho
As Swansea City are in dire need of more firepower, West Ham United’s attacker, Diafra Sakho, could be lured to the Liberty Stadium on loan as Sakho has been on the periphery since the start of the season. The Senegal international has been mostly used from the bench and in 17 appearances across all competitions this season, he has found the back of the net on 4 occasions.
He is currently behind the likes of Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez in the pecking order. The hitman has the potential to add some clinical attitude up front for Swansea City. The 28-year-old has plenty of experience of English football and is someone who contributes to the defensive needs of his side as well.
