Predicted 4-2-3-1 Leicester City lineup vs Everton: Mahrez to be dropped?

Predicted 4-2-3-1 Leicester City lineup vs Everton: Mahrez to be dropped? 1

Leicester City travel to Goodison Park as they’ll look to add another win to their impeccable run at the moment, which has seen them climb over surprise packages Burnley to seventh place. Everton, on the other hand, are winless in six but have lost just one game at home since Big Sam took charge.

Leicester City have won just one out of their last three visits to the Goodison, so it could be a pretty interesting game. However, they thumped Everton in the reverse fixture, when the Toffees were struggling after Koeman’s sack. The Foxes will go into this game with a counter-attacking mindset.

Latest team news

Danny Simpson and Robert Huth have been declared fit but it will be interesting to see if Puel shifts his current first team defenders, who are in a rich vein of form.

Elsewhere, Iborra and Adrien Silva are available and Wes Morgan has returned to first team training.

Fousseni Diabaté should be seen on the bench at least, after his breathtaking, fearless performance against Peterborough over the weekend.

Predicted lineup: (4-2-3-1)

Defence

Kasper Schmeichel will keep the goal against the Toffees. His decision making and leadership at the back has been praiseworthy.

Since winning the title two years ago, Leicester City’s backline looks completely different. Daniel Amartey has shifted to the left-back role and is doing an excellent job, with all the awareness and discipline. The young and exciting Ben Chilwell will play as the other full back. He is more expressive, loves to take players on and cross the ball.

The centre-back pairing of Dragovic and Harry Maguire is mostly going to feature again as Puel made 10 changes to the side that demolished Peterborough.

Midfield

Matty James has been very composed and alert in recent games. He has established himself and should start at Goodison Park. He was be accompanied by Wilfred Ndidi, who is energetic, technically superb and sharp at tackling.

Riyad Mahrez has reported put in a transfer request, so he could be dropped until his head is right. In his absence, we could see Demarai Gray getting a chance.

Marc Albrighton and Shinji Okazaki, two hard-working, differently styled players will play alongside him. While Albrighton presses well and provides early passes and crosses, Okazaki often creates space for Vardy to run into. He feeds the wingers, makes his runs into the box late and comes deeper to defend.

Attack

Despite the brace from former Manchester City striker Kalechi Iheanacho, Leicester’s number one centre-forward, Jamie Vardy is expected to start up front. He offers endless work rate, is always a nuisance in the box and loves to take his shot away early.
