Nottingham Forest Targeting Former Everton Star: A Wise Choice By Karanka? 1

Speculation

One of the latest reports by Sky Sports has suggested that Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Tim Cahill, who is available on a free transfer and have also offered a contract to him. He left Australian A-League outfit, Melbourne City, last month and is currently on the radar of Millwall as well, who are also understood to have proposed an offer to him.

Career So Far

Cahill began his footballing journey with the youth ranks of Sydney Olympic, Sydney United and Millwall. He was promoted to the senior side of the Lions and he successfully made a name for himself during his time in their ranks. After spending six years with Millwall, he joined Everton and churned yet another successful story on the English soil.

Then he spent his time with New York Red Bulls, Shanghai Shenhua, Hangzhou Greentown and Melbourne City and the fact that he is a free agent now has alerted the likes of Millwall and Nottingham Forest. Aitor Karanka is an admirer of the Australian international who has accumulated 136 goals to his name so far in his career, even after operating in slightly deeper areas on many occasions.

Cahill was in the books of Millwall when they clinched the League One title back in 2000-01 season and they are desperate to strike a reunion with him. However, the Tricky Trees should leave no stone unturned to make him sign on the dotted line, for he would be a notable signing and would help them massively in their upcoming endeavours.

Will He Be A Good Signing?

The attacking midfielder would be a kind of signing that has the potential to create a stir as he is a genuine leader on and off the pitch. He leads the team’s offensive endeavours, scores goals frequently and creates chances for his teammates. Recently, he smashed 11 goals in 28 games back in Australia and his signature will be beneficial for either club. He has tons of experience under his belt and is quite acclimatised to English football.

The 38-year-old is driven by the desire to sit on the plane that goes to Russia later this year for the World Cup as his ambition of playing for the Australian national side is unparalleled. He is looking forward to getting in the best shape for the grandest stage and if he succeeds it will be a two way street of profit.
