Huddersfield Town Linked With A Move For Versatile Serie A Youngster: Is He The Right Choice? 1

According to a recent report by The Huddersfield Daily Examiner, Huddersfield Town are keen to lure Chievo Verona midfielder, Samuel Bastien to their ranks. Bastien has been creating ripples in the Serie A this season owing to the calibre he has shown so far and it is not really a surprise to see a Premier League side looking keen to make him sign on the dotted line this month.

Huddersfield Town, under the tutelage of David Wagner, ensured their promotion to the top flight of English football from the Championship and would certainly look to keep their status of being a Premier League side intact. However, they have collected merely 24 points from their 23 league outing so far and there is a lot of work to be done to make sure that they remain aloof of the relegation zone at the end of the season.

We do expect the Terriers to be busy this month in order to beef up their arsenal for the second half of the season, as it is likely that the challenges will be humungous in the coming months. They have already signed Alex Pritchard in order to instil more quality in their ranks but it would make sense if they make some more additions.

Bastien is a blossoming youngster with a lot of potential. The midfielder has been handed 12 appearances in the Italian top-flight by Chievo and he has been able to draw a lot of attention from the football fraternity. He is a technically sound midfielder with fearsome shooting skills.

Bastien emerged through the youth ranks of Standard Liege and Anderlecht and was then promoted to the senior side of the latter. He struggled to cement his place at Anderlecht and was shipped out on loan to Avellion before signing for Verona. He can ply his trade as a central attacking midfielder, as a central midfielder as well as on both wings and no wonder his stocks are high.

However, the 21-year-old is far from being a finished product but given that he is still young, he should be able to better himself in the coming seasons by polishing himself further.

While Wagner will have a lot of scope to work with such a player, it is debatable whether Bastien is someone he needs right at this moment. With the fight to survive getting more intense by the day, he definitely has to look at more proven prospects at the same time.
