Title Contenders Surely: Manchester United Players Rated In Their 4-0 Demolition Of Swansea City 1

The goal of the second Premier League game for Manchester United was to maintain the positive energy created by them against West Ham United and to convert it into momentum, and they did it in style by scoring 4 past Swansea City and keeping a clean sheet.

Two games, eight goals, two clean sheets and top of the table. Nothing could be better at the moment. They got through difficult times during the game created by a formidable performance by the likes of Mawson, Fernandez and Tom Carroll. Swansea looked very organized till the first goal and played with a deep line with neat defending and marking. But all that fell apart, they lost their shape and conceded 3 goals in 3 minutes, 47 seconds.

They created a couple of close chances too, with Jordan Ayew almost embarrassing David De Gea as he hit the crossbar and Abraham missing an open header. None the less, the second week of the Premier League has started off right from where it left, with a galore and gallery of goals, goals and goals.

Here are our Manchester United’s player ratings –

David De Gea – 7/10

Wasn’t really troubled and tested by the Swansea City forwards, apart from a hiccup caused by Ayew and hence managed to keep a clean sheet.

Antonio Valencia – 7/10

Good passing, good in the air whenever required, neat defending and part of the clean sheet but Manchester United lacked creativity and offensive action from the right back, as he just played the supporting pass and didn’t perform any overlapping runs.

Phil Jones – 8.5/10

Solid at the back, won almost all aerial duels and looks good in the defensive partnership with Bailly. Also, disturbed the cross bar with a good header.

Eric Bailly – 9.5/10

Almost perfect man marking, won all one on one duels, sharply tackled, was solid at the back and was the all-important goal scorer when things were really tight and Man Utd had to play the patient game.

Daley Blind – 7/10

Like his opposite full-back was very supportive but didn’t touch the wings. Took a couple of good dead balls and was barely tested as the Swans had a very narrow attacking formation.

Paul Pogba – 8/10

Had a good game, kept the midfield together, intercepted key passes and played a supporting role in charge of playmaking with Mata. Won the ball back, ran off the ball brilliantly and finished it off when he was given an advanced role. Surely up and running for the season.

Nemanja Matic – 8.5/10

Shielded and protected the back 4, did what Matic does best, showed everyone how good a signing he can be as he was a symbol of strength. Lost 1.5 points due to sloppy forward passing on 3-4 occasions.

Juan Mata – 8/10

Kept the front 3 together for United and crossed with superb accuracy. Overall, job done on his part.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 9.5/10

Well-deserved man of the match performance. He took on the defenders, turned out to be a creative passer with eye-catching through balls and yet again came out with two assists which sealed the deal for the Red Devils. Also, performed defensive duties, an aspect which Jose loves from his number 10s.

Marcus Rashford – 8/10

He was dynamic with his quick passing and movements off the ball, showed how sharp he can be. Had the most take-ons but the only element which was missing from the youngster was his finishing touch.

Romelu Lukaku – 7.5/10

Wasn’t as impressive as he was on the opening day as he wasn’t as sublime with his holding of the ball when alone and also, not as good with aerial duels, something which Lukaku is a specialist at. None the less, a striker’s job is to score and he has kept everyone happy with his 100% scoring record with a cool and accurate finish.

SUBSTITUTES –

Ander Herrera – 4/10

Got just a few minutes to play, when the game was all over and hence had little influence.

Marouane Fellaini – 6/10

As usual, supported the back four with his strength and ability to head the ball. Most importantly, his inclusion meant that Pogba could play in an advanced role, which he enjoyed thoroughly.

Anthony Martial – 8.5/10

Sweet and sublime, played with a direct attitude, kept the defenders on their toes. Jose might prefer Rashford but the calmness in Martial’s finish might give him second thoughts next weekend.

I stumbledupon it more I am going to return yet again since I saved as a favorite it.
