As per one of the latest reports by Hull Daily Mail, Hull City are closing in on a deal to sign Watford’s Isaac Success on loan. The Tigers succumbed during the relegation fistfight last season in the Premier League and were demoted to the Championship.
They haven’t had a spectacular start to their season, as they won just one game in their four league outings and have been thrown out of the League Cup after their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Doncaster on Wednesday. They were expected to do some business before the transfer window shuts down and it seems they have managed some Success (excuse the pun).
Leonid Slutsky has brought in some decent names to the KCOM Stadium this summer like Kevin Stewart, Jon Toral, Ondrej Mazuch and Sebastian Larsson in order to beef up his arsenal. But apparently, they are attempting to sign a forward and no wonder why Success has fallen on their radar.
Success signed for Premier League outfit, Watford, last summer on a five-year deal for a club record fee from Granada. He was a good player for the Spanish outfit and it was perceived that the Hornets pulled off a masterstroke by making him sign on the dotted line.
However, his stay at the Vicarage Road hasn’t been an appealing one so far and has struggled to get into Watford’s side. The 21-year-old is tied to the club until the summer of 2021 and thus, Marco Silva might be tempted to ship him out on loan for a season and note his development.
Slutsky’s interest in sign Success makes complete sense, for he is a player of fine calibre with his raw pace and incisive dribbling skills being his strongest suits. Although his end product is yet to touch the requisite heights, he is someone who is difficult to mark owing to his shrewd movements and skilful artistry up front.
The Nigerian international puts his solid ball-striking technique on offer and his strong physical presence makes him a handy package. Besides, despite being a left-winger predominantly, he is capable enough be work efficiently as a striker as well as a right-winger.
It goes without saying that at this stage of his career, Success would be looking forward to accumulate more game time under his belt and a loan move to Hull City might actually tempt him. Further, Slutsky does need a decent attacker to impose a serious challenge for promotion and thus, they must attempt to sign Success to better their chances.
