Huddersfield Town breezed into the Premier League, thanks to their win over Reading in the Championship play-off finals. David Wagner masterminded a fruitful season with the Terries and thoroughly deserved to get promoted and earn themselves the tag of an English top flight side.

Wagner isn’t unaware of the animosity which the Premier League will have on offer and must be looking for targets he could possibly lure to the Kirklees Stadium in order to boost the quality and quantity of his arsenal. Apparently, one of the players to have fallen on his radar is Derby County’s prolific attacker Tom Ince.

Despite the failure on the part of the Rams in finishing inside the top six, Ince emerged as one of the silver linings in the side. Huddersfield’s opening bid of £7.2m was rejected by Derby and it seems the Terriers will have to up their bid and break the bank.

Having emerged through the youth ranks of Liverpool, Ince couldn’t really push himself into the senior side on a decent note and it was after his move to Blackpool that he started to find a footing. Eventually, he gathered experience whilst loan spells with Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Derby County, with Derby signing him on a permanent basis in the summer of 2015.

The 25-year-old was at his best in the 2016-17 Championship season as he managed 45 appearances under his belt and scored 14 goals and registered six assists. Besides, he also plundered 1.6 key passes per game on an average with a decent pass completion rate of 83.5%. He has been pretty solid based on his stats and no wonder the newly promoted outfit is keen to acquire his services.

A player who could be engineered on the right midfield, right wing as well in the central attacking midfield slot, Ince has the requisite pace required to be a threatening attacker, can put in a good cross or two and is often a busy player who doesn’t give the opposition defenders time on the ball.

Besides, his dribbling skills are excellent and having shown his calibre in the Championship, it is about time to prove his ability in the Premier League.

Although Ince is yet to be proven in the top flight, he has good ability and having been through the grinding competition in the Championship, he could finally silence his critics in the top flight.
