Midfield general to return: Predicted 3-4-3 Tottenham Hotspur lineup vs Manchester United

tottenham hotspur

In what will be an emotional evening for the Tottenham Hotspur faithful on Sunday, Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be up against Manchester United in the last home game of the season and the final ever match at the White Hart Lane. The Lilywhites are moving to the Wembley next season and will be back in a renewed White Hart Lane for the 2019/20 season. They have gone the entire season without a loss at home and will be dreaming of a win against the Red Devils and securing the second spot safely in the Premier League.

It won’t be an easy task as Spurs are coming on the back of a disappointing 1-0 loss against West Ham United which all but finished their title challenge. Manchester United too come into this match after faltering 2-0 against Arsenal. They could only manage a draw against Celta but won the tie on aggregate.

In the last 15 league games between the two, Spurs have won just one with the solitary win coming at the Lane last season.

Here is the predicted Tottenham lineup for their final home of the season and at their beloved stadium.

Goalkeeper

Hugo Lloris will keep up his place in the playing eleven ahead of Michael Vorm who will again be deputising for the French number one custodian. Lloris will be against David de Gea of United as the two best keepers in the league will fight it out to prove their billing as the Numero Uno keeper in the Premier League.

Defence

Eric Dier is expected to return back to a three-man defence line for the Lilywhites along with Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld. The trio has not looked as solid as ever in recent weeks but will be aware of the fact that United will make changes to their attacking unit after playing just 48 hours before in a high-intensity semifinal clash in the Europa League.

The likes of Marcus Rashford and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are set to be rested which might make the job somewhat easier for the three-man back line.

Midfield

Pochettino has always rotated his full-backs to ensure freshness in legs and is expected to do the same by making Kieran Trippier start against Manchester United ahead of Kyle Walker. Ben Davies will be the left wing back on the night as Danny Rose has still not fully recuperated from his long-term injury.

Moussa Dembele was sorely missed against the Hammers and will return straight to the lineup in his favoured role. Partnering him will be Victor Wanyama who has done brilliantly in Spurs’ home games.

Attack

A 3-4-3 lineup has brought out the best of Tottenham’s attacking players since the last few months which helped the side to mount a title challenge to some extent. With Erik Lamela still out of contention, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli will be deployed on the flanks while Harry Kane will be the sole striker for the home side.

Kane has not yet scored a goal against the Red Devils and will be itching to get on the scoresheet against them.

I have been surfing online more than 4 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like here. Its pretty worth enough for me.
