What’s St. Totteringham’s Day? Tottenham Hotspur player ratings from a historic win vs Arsenal

In the last ever North London at the White Hart Lane, Spurs scripted a historic 2-0 win over Arsenal. Harry Kane and Dele Alli scored the goals in a brilliant second half display by Mauricio Pochettino’s men. This was Arsene Wenger’s 50th North London derby and the Lilywhites ruined that milestone game for him by winning convincingly and also confirming a finish above Arsenal in the league table after 22 long years.

This season might mark a shift in power in North London as Arsenal might fail to be in the top four while Spurs are still in the title race. With a win tonight, Spurs might have put a nail in Wenger’s coffin with the Gunners. Without further ado, here are the Tottenham Hotspur player ratings.

Hugo Lloris (7/10): Was called into action on very few occasions but looked confident whenever he was needed to do his job.

Kieran Trippier (7/10): Struggled offensively but made up for it by performing brilliantly at the back. He justified starting ahead of Kyle Walker.

Toby Alderweireld (8/10): Solid aerially and in terms of his positioning. He never gave Giroud any space to work with and also came close with a header from a corner.

Jan Vertonghen (8.5/10): His most valuable contribution came in attack where he made Cech work on a number of occasions. He was unflustered at the back and looked assured.

Ben Davies (7.5/10): Did his job well and restricted himself from doing anything risky. A solid performance by the backup fullback.

Victor Wanyama (9/10): One of his best performances in a white shirt. He bossed the midfield and rarely give Arsenal any space to work with.

Eric Dier (8/10): Back in his favoured role, Dier fared decently as he dictated the tempo well from the midfield. He provided solid cover for the back line.

Christian Eriksen (7/10): He will be kicking himself for missing a sitter but moved on from that blunder by creating many opportunities.

Dele Alli (9/10): An action-packed performance by the talented midfielder who again fared brilliantly in a big game. He scored a well-taken goal as he showed his eagerness to get to the end of the attack to give Spurs the lead in the game.

Son Heung-Min (8/10): Immense work rate was shown by the South Korean who had to toil hard throughout the game to trouble the Gunners.

Harry Kane (9/10): Kane scores against Arsenal as though he is becoming the new Drogba against their bitter rivals. Another gutsy performance by the forward.

Substitutions

Mousa Dembele (7/10): Brought on to see out the game and he did that effectively.
