Everton have a great chance to go fifth in the table when they face Burnley at Goodison Park on Saturday. Though the Toffees have played more games than their closest competitors like Arsenal and Manchester United, a win over Burnley would make it three wins in a row for them after their 4-2 win over Champions Leicester City in the last game. On the other hand, Burnley have not won a game in their last three league fixtures and need a win soon to lift the mood in the camp and avoid any late relegation jitters and reach the magic 40-point mark.
Everton have been brilliant this calendar year as their home form has been close to being called impeccable. Ronald Koeman has called for a strong finish to the current season as the former Southampton man wants his side to play in Europe next season at any cost. Everton have faced Burnley twice at home in the league before and have won both the fixtures by keeping a clean sheet on the way. On that note, here is the predicted Everton lineup to face Burnley on Saturday.
Goalkeeper
Joel Robles will keep his place in the starting lineup which has been the case for Everton in recent months. Maarten Stekelenburg will have to be satisfied with being the second choice custodian as he has fallen down the pecking order at Goodison.
Defence
Mason Holgate has been impressive at right back since the absence of Seamus Coleman and will occupy the right flank. The other flank will be covered by Leighton Baines who had a decent outing against the Foxes. Ashley Williams missed the game against Leicester due to a suspension and will return to the fray tomorrow. He will be joined by Phil Jagielka who scored a goal and produced an assist in the last match. Matthew Pennington and Jonjoe Kenny will be the defensive options on the bench.
Midfield
The midfield for Everton clicked in the last game and there are no issues which will lead to a change in the midfield three. Everton have been looking at a balanced midfield for the first time in recent seasons which is a good sign. Idrissa Gueye will play ahead of the defence whereas Morgan Schneiderlin and Tom Davies will be on either side of him to complete the midfield trio. Youngster Joseph Williams will be on the bench as a midfield option.
Attack
Kevin Mirallas returned to form against Leicester as he provided an assist in his last match. This means the Belgian will keep the talented Dominic Calvert-Lewin out of the playing eleven. After his eighth assist against Leicester, Ross Barkley will start from the left wing to threaten the solid Burnley defence. Romelu Lukaku will play as the sole striker as the most in-form player in the Premier League has scored more goals this calendar year (13) than what the entire squad of Burnley has achieved in 2017 (11).
