Chelsea closing in on Serie A goal-machine: A potential game-changer?

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Juventus to sign Gonzalo Higuaín, as per reports from Sport Mediaset. The Argentine international has been subject to a move out of Juventus this summer with Chelsea almost on the verge of securing his services.

The report claims that both of the clubs have agreed a deal for the transfer of the Argentine attacker to West London for a fee of €60m. In fact, it is claimed that Higuaín could soon be revealed as a Chelsea player, just after the arrival of Maurizio Sarri as their manager for next season.

Higuaín, 30, spent the last couple of seasons at Juventus, where he’s been one of the more prominent first-team players.

Since his move to Turin in the summer of 2016, Higuaín has made over 100 appearances in all competitions, scoring 55 goals and providing 12 assists. He helped the Italian giants with two back to back league titles.

However, the 30-year-old endured a tough World Cup as Argentina bowed out of the competition against France in the last 16. Higuaín played only 132 minutes, failing to find the back of the net.

In addition, his future at Juventus could be in doubt as the Old Lady have been linked with a move for Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

Highly regarded as one of the best strikers in world football, the addition of Higuaín will come as a sigh of relief for the Chelsea fans. The Blues failed to defend their Premier League title following a disappointing campaign last season, which even saw them missing out on the top four and the Champions League.

New signing Alvaro Morata struggled to impose himself in the English top flight. As a result of which, the Spaniard is linked with a move out of Stamford Bridge this summer.

Maurizio Sarri, on the other hand, will want to undergo a transfer overhaul this summer as he looks to usher a new era. The former Napoli mastermind enjoyed great success during his time with the Naples outfit and same will be expected of him when he takes charge of Chelsea next season.

And in the form of Gonzalo Higuaín, the Italian will have a lethal attacking option at his disposal. In fact, both have worked together during their time at Napoli, with Higuaín having the utmost respect for Sarri.

Therefore, their reunion at Chelsea could not only help Higuaín quickly get used to the new conditions but also provide Sarri with a familiar face at his disposal.
