Could Tottenham Hotspur hire a manager who has won the Premier League?

It’s that time of the year when odd rumours are nothing new. The Premier League is nearing its completion and despite a World Cup coming up, the rumour mill is expected to churn out the best for the readers. It’s natural to see your club being linked with players, sometimes there is the odd speculation of a manager replacing the current gaffer at the club.

Tottenham are said to be the club involved if latest reports are to be believed and the manager who could replace Mauricio Pochettino is Claudio Ranieri. (?!?!?!)

From where is it coming from?

Though Spurs are in a pretty healthy position, there is a bit of a panic as they were knocked out of the FA Cup. The loss to Manchester United in the semifinal put more pressure on the Pochettino’s shoulders. The side have failed to deal with pressure situations and the silverware still eludes them. Barring that, one can hardly complain about what Spurs have achieved under the Argentine gaffer.

Presse Ocean, a French outlet, had reported that Ranieri will depart Nantes in the coming summer and Tottenham could be is next destination. It’s a bit odd that they didn’t reveal why Tottenham of all teams. Pochettino still has a contract till 2021.

A few weeks ago, the gaffer had revealed after the defeat to Manchester United, “Tottenham need more time with me or with another, but the most important thing is to keep going and keep developing that philosophy that is fantastic for this club.

“I have no regrets. We try to learn always but it is difficult, it’s not about learning, it’s about having the capacity to beat your opponent.”

Though his quotes were sort of twisted out of context, you can never rule out an exit as many feel this team has a certain threshold that they’ve already hit. League glory seems out of the question considering how much money the Manchester clubs can spend, but the side has failed in their pursuit of winning a cup for three years now.

Ranieri is perhaps being linked with the side because he took an okayish team to the title when Leicester City shocked everyone and won the title two years ago. Still, the rumours make you scratch your head, don’t they?
