Tottenham Hotspur Scouting South Korean Sensation: Should They Make A Move?

Transfer News:

Tottenham Hotspur added another year to their long and painful wait for a trophy as they went down 1-2 against Manchester United in the semifinals of the FA Cup. Despite taking an early lead in the contest, the Lilywhites somehow squandered the lead thus ensuring another trophy-less season. A reason for Spurs’ inconsistent campaign has been their lack of squad depth. Unlike other top six clubs, Spurs do not have a lot of talent on the bench and the board would look to rectify that in the upcoming transfer window.

A new report states that the Spurs might make a move for Korean talent Kwon-Chang Hoon in the summer. The right-winger cum midfielder has attracted a lot of attention from the Spurs who are keen to get this deal done soon.

More On Kwon

Surprisingly enough, Kwon made his competitive debut in an AFC Championship match and eventually attracted interest from Europe. He is a dazzling right-winger and possesses a good change of pace and a deceptive set of tricks. Kwon likes to get past the fullbacks by using his footwork and possesses a good passing range too. He is quite versatile in the way that he stretches the play and cuts in from the flank to create chances.

While playing as an attacking midfielder, Kwon finds himself in the pockets of spaces in the midfield and uses the space afforded to him to create chances for his teammates. His passing could improve though as he now boasts of a passing accuracy of mere 71.4% and that would be unacceptable in a Top 4 team of the Premier League. In 30 appearances, which included eight from the bench, Kwon has scored nine goals whilst having assisted twice.

Should Spurs make a move?

If they are ready to take a risk, then Kwon might be a good buy. However, Mauricio Pochettino will have to develop and work on his game to completely mould him to suit the style of the Premier League. Spurs might not get instant results, something that they so desperately need. They have just recently crashed out of the FA Cup, a competition that they could have won this season.

Despite the enviable form of the team, as a collective, Spurs have been unable to collect trophies and hence the signing of Kwon would be surprising, especially because the lad might take a lot of time to adjust to the Premier League and Spurs cannot afford that currently.
