Serie A Star Rules Out Any Possible Move: Three Alternatives Chelsea Should Target

Chelsea target Radja Nainggolan has reportedly ditched the rumours surrounding his potential move out of Serie A in the upcoming summer transfer window, by committing his long-term future with AS Roma.

“I’ve never won anything, but I think that for those who know me, I’ve always played to win. Sometimes I prefer to take the hardest path,” said Nainggolan.

“It would be too easy to go to a winning team and win. For me, it’s better to be a leading light for a less-favoured team and win with them.

“I chose Roma for that reason too. It’s an important club, and a club like Roma deserve to win something important.” – he added.

Therefore, a move for the Belgian superstar midfielder has apparently been ruled out despite Chelsea’s keen interest in the player. However, in this article, we will talk about three players who could prove to be great alternatives for the Belgian international.

Arturo Vidal – Bayern Munich

Highly regarded as one of the most robust midfielders in Europe, Arturo Vidal has been a subject of some serious transfer speculations throughout the entirety of the season.

Even though the Chilean was deemed as a key member of the Bayern Munich setup despite the signings of Sebastian Rudy, James Rodriguez and Corentin Tolisso, Vidal might be pushed out of the Allianz Arena this summer, following the addition of Schalke’s star midfielder Leon Goretzka. The German international has been identified as a perfect replacement for Arturo Vidal.

Therefore, the Chilean international is free to move to pastures new in the upcoming transfer window.

A move to Chelsea can be perfect for the former Juventus midfielder, considering his robust style of play. His partnership with N’Golo Kante will definitely make Chelsea one of the most feared midfield units in the Premier League.

Aaron Ramsey – Arsenal

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Aaron Ramsey in recent weeks.

The Welsh International’s current deal with Arsenal expires at the end of next season and despite talks taking place, an agreement regarding his contract extension is yet to be reached, which has alerted the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Gunners midfielder has been regarded as one of the best Welsh footballers in the business and his addition to Chelsea can certainly boost the midfield dynamics of the Blues next season.

Although the transfer may seem unlikely, Aaron Ramsey is the best alternative one could hope for.

Emre Can – Liverpool

Another long-shot could be Liverpool’s Emre Can.

Since arriving in the Premier League in 2014, Emre Can has emerged as one of the most consistent midfielders for Liverpool. Especially in the past few years, the German international has been a mainstay of the Reds’ midfield department.

However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Emre Can is expected to leave Anfield this summer. He is tipped to join Italian champions Juventus but Chelsea might also have a decent chance of landing the German midfielder, should they make a late surge for his services in the coming months.
