Mauricio Pochettino is yet to win any silverware in his time at Tottenham Hotspur but the Argentine mastermind is in no mood to change his recruitment model. While there are calls from fans for Spurs to sign proven talent, to help them take the next step in Europe, the manager is happy to stick to potential superstars and one such name constantly doing the rounds is that of German star, Jann-Fiete Arp.
Spurs Intensify Arp Chase:
A transfer target for the likes of Bayern Munich, Arp has recently spoken about modelling himself on English striker Harry Kane and has been scouted by Tottenham Hotspur for more than a couple of months now.
And reports now claim that they are ready to take the first step towards his signature and are already readying a bid for his services this summer. Bayern remain favourites to land him but is he a man Spurs should go all in for?
Who Is Jann-Fiete Arp?
For fans of the Bundesliga, the 18-year old has already become a household name, after he became the first player born in this millennium, to score a goal in the German top flight. He broke into the senior side at Hamburg just this season, having spent seven years at the academy and is now regarded as one of the brightest prospects in world football at the moment.
He has already turned into an important part of the first team at Hamburger, making seven starts and 8 appearances off the bench, picking up two goals this season. He was also a part of the U17 side that travelled to India for the World Cup last year and bagged five goals, showing his class.
Playing most of his game as a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1 system at Volksparkstadion, Arp has shown great awareness and finishing qualities that have made the biggest clubs in Europe sit up and take notice.
At his age, he is not comfortable with the physical aspect of the game but his positioning, technical ability and dribbling prowess make him a dangerous player. He is still a teenager and will only get better and will be a good fit for Spurs.
Chances At Spurs:
There are very few clubs that are ready to give teenage stars a chance in the first team regularly and Tottenham Hotspur is one of them. Pochettino has seen the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Harry Winks come up the ranks at the club and can surely do the same for this German starlet.
With Fernando Llorente as the only backup for Kane and Vincent Janssen not impressing on his loan spell, Pochettino will be in the market this summer for a striker and should definitely give Arp a shot. He may not be able to walk into the first team but his quality is bound to help them in the long run.
