One thing Tottenham have done pretty well under Mauricio Pochettino is signing good first team players. The integration of Son Heung-Min in the last year or so and Serge Aurier more recently means the fans will know their side can replace almost anyone.
Spurs’ consistency means their stars will inevitably be linked with moves away from the club. Kyle Walker moved to Manchester City last summer and it looks like his compatriot Danny Rose could follow suit. The left-back has been a consistent performer for the club but after his statements last summer, you can’t help but think Spurs will be better off without a player who feels his future lies elsewhere.
Pochettino has done a good job using Ben Davies in the left-back role and at times the left wingback role, but need someone come summer to strengthen their depth and quality.
The club have managed to rope in Aurier and Lucas Moura from PSG and their solution for the problem could be another PSG star in Layvin Kurzawa. The fullback has lost his first team place to Yuri Berchiche and has also been dropped from the national team. Reports in France indicate he could be sold come summer along with some of the other underperforming stars.
Kurzawa’s former teammate, Aurier, has found success after moving to the Premier League last summer. In fact, the Ivorian has emerged as one of the most key players for the Lilywhites this term, and Kurzawa himself would want at the moment. But it’s unlikely that’ll happen at PSG.
A move to Tottenham Hotspur could make sense considering the fact that Kurzawa himself will be keen to get some regular first-team football under his belt.
Why he’s perfect for Spurs
Prominently known for his ability in the attacking areas of the pitch, the 25-year-old tailor-made for the Premier League’s high-pitched football. His incredible athleticism coupled with his energetic approach is sure to lend Spurs an advantage in both going forward as well as in defensive stances.
Although it might be a little hard to judge between Ben Davies and Layvin Kurzawa at this point in time, the latter definitely boasts incredible tenacity and work-ethic, which makes him an ideal fit for Mauricio Pochettino’s system.
Furthermore, Kurzawa’s stark experience of playing in the UEFA Champions League could help Spurs perform better in the next edition of Europe’s coveted tournament.
