Tottenham Hotspur Retain Interest In 20 Y/O Brazilian Winger: Good Fit For Pochettino?

Tottenham Hotspur have failed to win any silverware in what has been arguably the best period at the club in a long time. Mauricio Pochettino is doing something impressive at the club at the moment but he will need more quality in his first team if his side are to challenge for trophies in the near future. This has seen them linked with some of the finest stars in European football and one name constantly on their radar is that of young Malcom.

Spurs Were Close To Signing Malcom:

According to reports in France, Malcom, who recently revealed that he is ready to move to England at the end of the season, was a transfer target for Spurs even in January and that they were ready to meet his valuation. The story claims that the English outfit made a bid of around €50m, which was rejected.

Bordeaux, Malcom’s parent club, value him at around €60m and were adamant not to let him leave before the end of the season. But they are willing to listen to offers that meet his valuation in the summer. So should Spurs retain their interest in this 20-year old?

Who is Malcom?

Born and brought up in Sao Paolo, Malcom made a name for himself at the academy at Corinthians, where he broke into the first team in 2014 and moved to Europe just two years later. He was picked up by French club Bordeaux back in 2016 and he did not take any time to establish himself in the senior side at Matmut Atlantique, making 68 Ligue 1 appearances till date.

He has 8 goals and five assists in 21 league games this season and is one of the first names on the team sheet for Gus Poyet.

An attacking winger, who can play on either flank and also through the middle, Malcom plays on the right wing in the attack in a 4-3-3 system, that has been effective at Bordeaux. A specialist on the dead ball, Malcom is a productive crosser but is more adept at cutting in from the wing and making space for himself.

His pace and dribbling allow him to add width to the attack, stretching defences while his skill and composure on the ball along with vision and technique see him create chances on a regular basis. His quick twists and turns often win him fouls and his ability to find the back of the net from long range, makes him all the more dangerous.

Chances At Spurs:

Pochettino’s men were missing a genuine winger, with Heung Min-Son the only outright winger in the squad. They were looking at some exciting names but decided to spend on Lucas Moura from PSG late in January. This will solve their immediate problems but does not mean that they do not need Malcom.

Ticking most requirements Pochettino has in recruiting players for his side, the 20-year old will have a major role to play if he moves to Wembley. He has enough potential to turn into a superstar and the Argentine manager can surely get the best out of him, making Spurs a productive destination.

I have been surfing online more than 4 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like best place. Its pretty worth enough for me.
