Newcastle United And Southampton Amongst Possible Destinations For This English International

While Jurgen Klopp is busy trying to add quality to his Liverpool side, the World Cup at the end of the season is giving him new headaches as he will now have to send players away from the club, for them to find some game time. One such player who is constantly linked with an exit is English star, Daniel Sturridge.

With a career marred with injuries, Sturridge still remains one of the most prolific finishers in the country but the quality in the first team at Anfield has seen him struggle to break into the first team under the German manager. Liverpool are now reportedly ready to off-load him to any club that is ready to meet his valuation of £30m.

It is slightly steep and that, along with his wage demands, is putting off a number of clubs. However, Sturridge may also be available on loan if Liverpool do not get any outright buyer in such a short span.

Here are the 3 teams who can look to make a move for him:

Swansea City:

Standing at the bottom of the league table, the Swans have been terribly out of form this season and have scored just 0.6 goals per game this season. They failed to replace Fernando Llorente in the summer and have stuck with Tammy Abraham as the first choice striker. Jordan Ayew and Wilfried Bony have also been used but they have failed to turn the club’s fortunes around. Sturridge is a serious upgrade on all those names and will start regularly when fit. He has what it takes to lift them to safety and this could be a productive move for all involved.

Southampton:

With neither Shane Long nor Manolo Gabbiadini showing any consistency this season, Pellegrino’s Southampton are also in desperate need of a striker. They are looking at Liverpool’s Danny Ings as an option but if Sturridge is available, they should be all over him. He can score goals regularly and can improve the side’s productivity in front of goal. Like at Swansea, Sturridge can easily turn into the first choice for the club, which will help his quest for a place in the World Cup squad under Gareth Southgate.

Newcastle United:

The Magpies are one of many clubs who are struggling to find goals regularly and like Southampton, they are also interested in Danny Ings from Liverpool. They have also been linked with a move for Sturridge, who is finally up for sale. The price may be a bit too much for Rafa Benitez but the quality that Sturridge brings to the side should outweigh it. Newcastle United are just two points off the drop zone and will need players like the Liverpool man to ensure their safety, nice and early in the campaign.
