Liverpool win again in pre-season: Player ratings from their win over Hertha Berlin

Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool started their trip to Germany with a victory this pre-season as they managed to keep yet another clean sheet, to beat Hertha Berlin 3-0 on Saturday. In front of a packed Olympiastadion in Berlin, the Reds opened the scoring through a clever goal from their new recruit Dominic Solanke while Georginio Wijnaldum doubled the lead before half time.

Philippe Coutinho’s sumptuous ball allowed Mohamed Salah to get himself on the scoresheet again as Liverpool ran away 3-0 winners. There were a number of sparkling performances on the night and here are the player ratings for Klopp’s side in this game.

Simon Mignolet (6)

Made just one save and one claim to make all day in a comfortable game for the Belgian.

Joe Gomez (7)

Hardly put a foot wrong at right back, then at centre-back, to probably claim a place in the squad for the Premier League next season.

Joel Matip (7)

Solid and assuring at the back, Matip made sure that Liverpool never gave the home side an easy sniff on goal.

Ragnar Klavan (7)

Was comfortable for most of the game as he put in a strong performance in familiar territory in Germany.

Alberto Moreno (5)

Put in a couple of horrible tackles and was out of position a couple of times, as he did no favours to his place in the side.

Emre Can (7)

Looked sharp right from the first minute and made sure that Liverpool applied the pressure as he got an hour under his belt in his home country.

Georginio Wijnaldum (7)

Scored a well-worked goal and put in the hard years as he gets himself ready for the next season.

Adam Lallana (7)

Had a surprisingly quiet day but his sumptuous ball for Solanke was what allowed Liverpool to break the shackles on the night.

Philippe Coutinho (8)

Was a thorn in the flesh for Berlin all night as he was smart with his movement and his assist for Salah has now got Liverpool fans drooling for the next season.

Sadio Mane (7)

Though still a bit rusty, played a part in both goals in the first half as he continues his journey back into the first team after injury.

Dominic Solanke (8)

Though not extremely creative in the first half, made a smart run to match a well-timed finish, to get onto the score sheet yet again, opening the scoring on the night.

Substitutes

Daniel Sturridge (6)

Though he had a couple of sparkling moments, did not do enough to help Liverpool tear Berlin apart in the second half.

Jordan Henderson (7)

Did nothing wrong as he continues to improve his fitness levels ahead of the next season, with another half of football under his belt.

Andrew Robertson (7)

Had a nervous moment early in the game but was a constant threat in attack as he made a decent start to his career with the Reds.

Mohamed Salah (8)

His frightening pace gave Berlin defence some nightmares as he picked up yet another goal in his first season with the English side.

Ovie Ejaria (6)

Put in a solid performance in the middle of the park for the last half hour, showing that he is ready for senior team football next season.

Roberto Firmino (6)

Missed a couple of chances in front of goal but was his usual self in the midfield and on the wing, where he was hard to catch.

Jon Flanagan (6)

Was caught out on a couple of occasions but did not allow any damage to his goal from his side of the field.

Ryan Kent (7)

Played a decent role in the midfield for Liverpool, where he managed to put in yet another solid performance on this pre-season tour.
