Arsenal Players Rated And Slated In Their Fortuitous Draw Against Manchester United

Manchester United’s chance of getting all three points did not materialise and it was all square after full time as  Arsenal got back late in the game and scored a last gasp equalizer to snatch a hard fought draw as the match ended 1-1 at Old Trafford. Arsenal will consider themselves lucky after almost putting up a no-show in the highly anticipated match.

Let us take a look at the Arsenal player ratings.

Petr Cech (8)

A strong presence between the sticks as always and produced two brilliant saves in the closing stages of the first half when United enjoyed a lengthy spell of possession.

Jenkinson (5.5)

Had a very decent outing considering it was his first start in two and a half years and did pretty well against the struggling Martial.

Shkodran Mustafi (6)

Made a few crucial blocks for his team and looked more troubled against young Rasford than second half substitute Rooney.

Laurent Koscielny (7)

Marshalled the defence well when United were on the front foot but looked rather uncomfortable coming up against his fellow countryman Martial’s pace on few occasions.

Nacho Monreal (5)

Was very fortunate not to concede a penalty as the left back had a miserable time on the left and was outplayed by Valencia’s raw pace going forward and Mata’s movement.

Francis Coquelin (6)

Made some crucial interceptions when Arsenal’s defence looked vulnerable and was later sacrificed to salvage something from the game which later proved fruitful.

Mohamed Elneny (5)

Didn’t make any serious contribution as such and was inevitably taken off by manager Arsene Wenger to make a last ditch attempt to score a late equaliser which finally paid off.

Aaron Ramsey (5)

Was not at his usual self and looked short on confidence. A few late tackles led to a yellow and didn’t look like a deciding factor in the game.

Mesut Ozil (5)

Failed to weave his magic and produce something extraordinary on such a big occasion and was more of a lone figure and did not get much of the ball to influence the game.

Theo Walcott (5.5)

Made some pacy runs on a few occasions but did not prove dangerous in the context of the game and was not much of a threat for United.

Alexis Sanchez (5)

Not heavily involved to do any damage except for the early headed opportunity and got frustrated by the lack of involvement in the game which was clearly evident from his expressions.

Subs-

Giroud (7.5) (for Elneny 73′)

Xhaka (5) (for Coquelin 80′ )

Oxlade-Chamberlain (7) (for Jenkinson 83′)

Subs not used- Gibbs, Paulista, Ospina, Iwobi
